Home of Pounded Yam
Looking for a Local Food Spot on the mainland that has tasty and budget friendly meals? Look no further than Ile Iyan. This restaurant is a haven for pounded yam lovers. Situated in Ikeja, Ile Iyan is the perfect spot for mainlanders seeking home-made food.
Their space is quite small but we loved the aesthetics of the various dine-in areas of the spot. The ground floor was cozy and comfortable, while the upper floor was traditional and had rustic decor; it had more of a feel-at-home vibe.
Note that the space gets crowded during the peak hours of the day; we advise you to get there on time.
We arrived just in time, and when they started pounding the yam, we placed our orders. In about 10-15 minutes, our meals arrived. They mainly sell Efo Riro and Egusi soup, and they offer a variety of combos on their menu. We loved the presentation of our meals; they were served on wooden plates and leaf wraps. Our expectations were high just from seeing the meals, and we were definitely not disappointed after tasting them. We opted for both Efo Riro and Egusi, and they both tasted good. The goat meats were tender, and the portions were generous
Combos we tried out
- Asoebi Combo: N8,000
- Deluxe Combo: N9,000
Ile Iyan also offers other local meals like Native rice, Boli, etc., aside from pounded yam and soup, and we’ll definitely return to try them out. Additionally, they do not sell alcoholic drinks; just water and fresh fruit drinks.
