We Visited a Danfo-Themed Secret Garden Restaurant in Lagos
If you love Nigerian food with a touch of Lagos nostalgia, colours and floral vibes, Danfo Secret Garden should be on your list of restaurants to visit. Sitting right in the heart of Victoria Island, this Lagos-themed restaurant brings local culture to life with its decor and menu.
The Space
The space is a mix of an outdoor garden and a bus-themed indoor area that looks like an old-school danfo without the Lagos traffic! From the bold colors to the wall art and seating, everything reflects the lively spirit of Eko. It’s also very instagrammable and offers a casual, and creative dine in experience.
Meals We Had
Danfo Secret Garden is not just about the aesthetics; they take their food seriously too, and we were happy to see that in action. We tried a few items from their menu, and here are our thoughts:
- Ewa Goyin Sandwich: This was a fun twist on a Lagos classic. The sandwich came packed with soft beans and agoyin sauce, wrapped in fresh agege bread. It wasn’t exactly like the traditional ewa agoyin, but it was spicy and filled with flavors to enjoy! I’d call it PREMIUM ewa agoyin.
- Danfo Sliders: These sliders are not your regular mini burgers. Each one had different fillings: chicken suya, beef patty, and even plantain. The combo was unexpected but really worked together. It’s perfect if you want a bit of everything.
- Naija Spaghetti Bolognese: This was the star of the day. It had a home-cooked, comforting taste and was packed with flavor. It’s the kind of dish that reminds you of Sunday lunch at home.
- Danfo Wings: The wings were crispy outside, tender inside, and well-seasoned. A solid choice if you’re looking for tasty finger food.
